I’m on Christmas Crack: Days 6 + 7
Day 6: I’d been cutting wood most of the day at my parents’ home and as I drive said cut wood back to downtown, and finally find a parking spot, I realize I have to now schlep it all the way to my building and up a few flights of stairs. Cut wood, you say. What’s the big deal? Well, some of these pieces were as big as 2’x4’ and there were multiple pieces! It became an awkward, heavy load, but I was determined to get it inside and finish up my work for the day. So I begin walking with the wood extended out from my hip, looking like an off balanced penguin, when lo and behold a real gentleman offers to help me carry my load! ”Are you sure?”, I ask. ”I wouldn’t have offered to carry it for you, if I wasn’t”, came the reply as he loaded up his arms. Well OK then! This visiting ODU undergraduate working on an economics project with VCU (I came to find out) was kind enough to not only carry the wood to my building, but up the stairs and into my studio!!! Then he left with a simple, “have a good night”. Without trying to get my number or find out creepy details about me, he simply helped where he saw a need. I was amazed! Very few people do that anymore. What a pal, what a helper, what a Christmas spirit keeper!!!!! Thank you!!!
Day 7: Cookies for breakfast, again!!!
